As day gently fades over Navy Point, evening arrives at historic St.Michael's. Lights from distant lamps appear almost in unison and reflect in the harbor which is now brushed with rich evening tones of lavender and violet. Soon the great shipbuilding center will give into the night and all will rest.
While the fine art of building wooden boats has also come to rest in most parts of the country, the tradition lives on at the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum in St. Michael's, Maryland. Situated on eighteen waterfront acres, the museum is a marvelous collection of ships, exhibits, and time-honored traditions of the Chesapeake Bay.
In this striking landscape, renowned watercolorist Richard Bollinger, has preserved this port of call just as it stands today.
