Once the capital of the United States, Annapolis, Maryland has long been synonymous with sailing. Mariners from around the world cruise to this popular port of call each year to enjoy the architecture, wonderful shops, the United States Naval Academy and of course, world class boating.
Although, most of these activities are associated with the spring and summer months, the town is very much alive year round. Winter, and especially the holiday season add an almost magical dimension to this waterfront community.
In this recent painting, watercolorist Richard Bollinger has captured the heart of this historic harbor as a light snow and a classic sloop arrive together, just in time for the Annapolis Yule Tide.
