These red poppies are so rich in color that they stand out
even against the dark blue of the lake in the background of
the painting. Poppies are so delicate that they will bend and
sway in the slightest breeze. I enjoy the contradictions of
these poppies; their redness expresses strength yet in actual
fact they are very fragile flowers. -Peter
