Some time ago I visited a circa 1840 farm house in
Stonecreek, Ohio, that a friend of mine had donated to Ohio Northern University's nature center.
Nestled in rolling farmland, the completely
restored home was handsome inside and out. I
found the family room's old fireplace especially
beautiful and enjoyed the challenge of capturing a
fire there-the movement of the flames and varying intensity of the light. All dogs are my friends,
of course-the one snoozing here is Sandy, who
belongs to the superintendent of the center. People
who follow my work know I often feature my
elderly neighbor Grady. That's his hat and jacket
tossed on the chair, but his cane isn't there...perhaps he's off in the kitchen preparing the evening
meal. - John
