HOWARD TERPNING
List
of Awards
Since 1978,
Howard has exhibited at the National
Academy of Western Art.
In 1980 he received the NAWA
Gold Medal
for oil, and in 1981 and 1996 he was awarded the Prix
de West.
In 1979 he became a member of the Cowboy
Artists of America
and has served as their President and member on the Board of Directors of the
CA Museum, since joining the CAA. Howard has won numerous gold
and silver medals and has been presented the CA
award
(formerly Colt Award and Stetson Award) by his fellow artists eleven
times.
His works have been presented at the Grand
Palais in Paris
and have been part of the American
Western Art Show in Peking.
In 1985 the Thomas
Gilcrease Museum
held a one-man show of Howard's work and in 2001 was honored with the Seeing
What the Heart Knows: The Art of Howard Terpning
exhibit, featuring 32 paintings at the
Eiteljorg
Museum of American Indians and Western Art
.
